LEMR Housing Monitor
An initiative of the Canadian Centre for Housing Rights (CCHR), Low-end of Market Rental (LEMR) Housing Monitor provides national housing data that makes affordable rental housing trends more visible and accessible to policymakers, researchers, advocates, and the public. As freelance creative, art, and design director, I led the development of the brand identity and microsite visual direction, translating a complex, research-driven platform into a human-centred digital experience that balanced institutional credibility with accessibility and emotional resonance. I developed a flexible visual identity system that included logo architecture, typography, colour palettes, graphic devices, and imagery treatments designed specifically for data visualization and interactive mapping. The custom wordmark subtly references elements of the CCHR brand, while the broader design system combines contemporary typography, abstract data-inspired graphics, gradients, and human-focused photography to create a modern and approachable public-facing brand. The microsite direction focused on creating a cohesive UX and visual framework capable of supporting interactive maps, editorial storytelling, reports, and educational resources across responsive digital environments. The outcome: a scalable and distinct platform that transforms dense housing research into an engaging and accessible experience, positioning LEMR as both an authoritative data resource and a socially engaged public initiative.
