Mackenzie Health Website
With an expanding hospital network, Mackenzie Health was in line for a fresh website reflective of their new “smart,” Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital. Their previous site did not convey the aspects of this newly built, state-of-the-art facility and they wanted to make a splash in their community to mark its arrival. They also needed to better direct website visitors to specific locations, core services and popular content within the growing hospital network, which had become increasingly challenging using the framework of the old site. The design process began with a full analysis and reorganization of their old site architecture and navigation. Aesthetically, abstract or extraneous graphics and text embedded in images were done away with, aiding in both usability and accessibility for visitors of all ages and levels of web familiarity. An existing image library was leveraged, favouring images of people, wherever possible. An existing visual identity and brand guidelines were carried over, while introducing a fresh web font that appears crisp and bold, yet friendly and highly legible. Launched in early 2021, their new, robust design and content management system allowed a seamless pivot in their unexpected community introduction of providing COVID-19 testing, patient care and a vaccination clinic.
