Partners For Action
As freelance art director and designer, I led the visual design, editorial execution, and digital production of this bilingual research publication developed within an existing Partners for Action brand identity system. Partners for Action (P4A) was a research initiative within the University of Waterloo’s Faculty of Environment that worked for over a decade to empower Canadians to become flood resilient through research, public engagement, and policy development. Working within established brand guidelines, I applied and extended the existing visual identity across a 58-page report, adapting the system to support complex policy and research content while maintaining consistency in typography, layout, colour usage, and graphic language. My responsibilities included editorial design and bilingual typesetting in English and French, along with the creation and integration of infographics, maps, charts, diagrams, tables, and other forms of data visualization used to communicate research findings, policy frameworks, and case study comparisons. I also managed the production and preparation of interactive digital PDF deliverables for online distribution, including clickable tables of contents, embedded hyperlinks, internal navigation, references, and accessible document structure. Additional responsibilities included image treatment, photo integration, file preparation, and collaboration with writers, editors, researchers, and translators to ensure visual cohesion and production accuracy throughout the publication.
